I posted a review of the season premiere of The Cougar on Associated Content. Of course it didn’t actually publish until almost 2 weeks later but it was still a fun review.

I should mention that I am in no way a cougar. I’ll be a big 36 this year and back in the day (last year) when I went out,  I was hit on a fair amount of the time by 20 something year old guys. I’m thinking part of it is the Asian gene of youthfulness, part is my immaturity when I drink. Either way, after I tease the guy for hitting on an old lady, it’s still uncomfortable to me. If I had a penny for everytime I heard the “age ain’t nothing but a number” line, well I’d still only have about 20 cents, but the point is at that age they don’t even know when they’re using cliches. Let alone cliches that I’ve heard for longer than they’ve been alive. They say it like they invented it.

I have been “friends” with a couple guys in their twenties and by friends I do mean friends. No funny business with the kiddies. Trust me I figured out just how uncomfortable it would be to date one when I realized that while I was in High School, this person was barely in Kindergarten. He’s never heard of the Fugees and thinks Shoop is fairly new because they still play it in bars. And any movie I saw growing up has been remade 3 times with different people-now that’s a potentialy embarrassing conversation.

Not to mention I’m a single mama.

No guy in his twenties is ready for that.
