Kidz Bop 2 McDonalds Rocks

The new “toy” in McDonalds Happy Meals is the Kidz Bop 2 CD and my daughter loves it. I think it’s just the idea of having her own CD with her own songs. I don’t know.

For some reason I expected the CD to be full of crappy songs I wouldn’t want to listen to. Much to my surprise, it isn’t bad especially when compared to other children’s CDs. I mean you can only listen to the “Wheels on the Bus” for so long before you want to toss the CD out and actually crash into a bus…

And even more to my surprise, I’ve fallen in love with “Chariot” originally by Gavin Degraw. I’m embarrassed to admit that I had heard of him but was not familiar with any of his songs. I think the version of “Chariot” on the Kidz Bop 2 CD touched me even more because of the kids singing it.

Then you have the lyrics to the chorus of “Chariot”:

Oh chariot, your golden waves
Are walking down upon this face
Oh chariot, I’m singing out loud
To guide me
Give me your
Strength

Well, I almost got weepy when I first heard that song, and  if that isn’t enough reason to love the Kidz Bop CD I don’t know what is. Lucky for my daughter, I don’t mind  listening to “her” songs in the car. As long as we can listen to that one.
